Paul Cook is currently 3/1 second favourite for the Portsmouth job.
I would be interested to know if he's applied .
Can Pompey afford him ? We'd want a decent wedge of compo surely.
There's going to be plenty interest in him after what he's achieved ,I really hope there's nothing in this .

I saw that and a lot of bookmakers have got him as 2nd favourite. Portsmouth could afford him and they've got a big wage budget for next season as well. Betvictor have got Cook as 3/1 as well. Phil Brown has said that he is comitted to Southend and he's the favourite. Cook the other day was 18/1 then 33/1 and now 3/1 either somebody knows something or playing the markets.

If (and I know its a big if), we do go up via the playoffs, can anybody honestly see Cookie stepping down 2 divisions? He is going to want to show what he can do with a view to returning home with a step up to the premier league. Far better to do that in the Championship rather than start again at the bottom. On the other hand if we don't make it who knows what might happen but he has just signed a 2 year extension to his contract so he wont be going for peanuts. A drop from 33/1 to 3/1 suggests a biggish bet by somebody but as I understand it on this type of betting a £100 bet can make that kind of difference, so don't get your knickers in a twist.

Despite their ground falling apart Portsmouth do have far more potential than us, but we've got a squad they'd love to add to Jed Wallace .... Sometimes to move forward in your career you do have to take an apparent step back ....
If Mr Cook did go, and I'd really like at least another season from him, then his replacement sits on the subs' bench for us most weeks. And we might discover he'd be pretty good too. But hey we've gotta beat Dean Holden and Oldham first.

Wonder if Deano will do us a big favour tomorrow and put his youth team out? We could clinch our play off place if he lets us. Town fans have a soft spot for him, maybe next town manager when Cook goes at the end of next season when we go up to the Prem (Joke Matt)

I liked Dean Holden and thought he was a great defender it was a shame he left, it's going to be a tough game tomorrow but reckon we should come out on top.
If Cookie took us to the Championship and kept us up then I think there would be a lot of interest from possibly mid-bottom table Premier League clubs.

The big trouble with Dean Holden was he always tried. I'm afraid his team will do the same. I don't think he'd be the easiest man to tell that you'd decided to tick over on 75% this afternoon.

I do believe Dean Holden is only in temporary charge and there will be no experimenting tomorrow if he wants the job permanently .
