The Run-in - spireitematt - 01-04-2015

Chesterfield: A Yeovil, H Crewe, A Barnsley, H Colchester, A Oldham, H Bristol City, A Sheffield United - 21 pts on offer

Sheffield United: A Barnsley, H Doncaster, A Oldham, A Yeovil, H Bradford, A Leyton Orient, H Chesterfield

Rochdale: A Preston, H Port Vale, A Doncaster, H Swindon, A Gillingham, H Leyton Orient, H MK Dons, A Barnsley

Barnsley: H Sheffield United, A Colchester, H Chesterfield, A Notts County, H Peterborough, A Bradford, H Rochdale

Peterborough: A Scunthorpe, H Walsall, A Swindon, H Crewe, A Barnsley, H Crawley, A Oldham

Bradford: A Doncaster, H Preston, A Gillingham, H Bristol City, A Sheffield United, A Scunthorpe, H Barnsley, A Crewe

I don't think Doncaster and Fleetwood can get a playoff spot now.

I think 5 wins and a draw might just be enough for us to grab a playoff spot. By the time we play Bristol City they could be champions so they might take there foot off the gas or they might want to break the ton barrier.

Sheffield United got some tough games coming up against Barnsley, Doncaster and Oldham and they'll struggle at Bradford and Orient.

Rochdale have a tough game against Preston, Swindon, MK Dons and Barnsley.

Barnsley have a tough game against Sheffield United and Bradford the rest look winnable for them but nothing is certain in football.

Peterborough on paper have an easy run-in but they might struggle against Scunthorpe and Crewe as they are fighting for survival.

Bradford got eight games left and losing to us last night will have dented their confidence. Doncaster, Preston and Bristol City will be tough games for them so they could out of the race come the Bristol City game.

RE: The Run-in - Devongone - 01-04-2015

I think Sheff Utd are away and gone for fifth.

Donny have proved they can go on a good run, so I wouldn't totally discount them, or Fleetwood, but they're outsiders.

Peterborough's fixtures look easiest, but they've only got Oldham who have nothing to play for. Sometimes some of the basement teams are the ones gathering most points as desperation drives them on.

RE: The Run-in - St Charles Owl - 02-04-2015

I think if Barnsley beat the blunts on Saturday then the wheel could come completely off their wagon and it will really spur on Barnsley as well. But having said that, they can be streaky so if they win at Oakwell I think they will go on and take 5th.

RE: The Run-in - themaclad - 02-04-2015

Fleetwood are poor and won't make it

RE: The Run-in - spireitematt - 02-04-2015

No Fleetwood won't and even if they did get promotion to the Championship they wouldn't have a sustainable fan base to keep them in that league.

RE: The Run-in - themaclad - 02-04-2015

You're right Matt 2500 regulars means losses if you want more expensive players still think they will go pop

RE: The Run-in - spireitematt - 02-04-2015

At best Fleetwood are a mid-table L2 side. The same can be said for Accrington Stanley but I don't understand how a team like Accrington can be a sustainable football league club with an attendance of just 1,000+, a lot of midweek games at home they barely get a 1,000. I think FC United if they got in the league they would do well because I think a lot more fans would go and watch them. A team I think will struggle with attendances if they got in the Football League is AFC Fylde because I can't see fans leaving Blackpool or Fleetwood to go support them.

RE: The Run-in - spireitematt - 07-04-2015

So Doncaster have lost to Sheffield United and as I predicted they are out the running for a playoff spot. If we beat Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday then they'll be out the running as well.

RE: The Run-in - Devongone - 08-04-2015

A big IF.

RE: The Run-in - spireitematt - 19-04-2015

So if Rochdale draw or lose to Leyton Orient on Tuesday night then we've got 6th place. Rochdale have to win there remaining 3 games and hope we lose against Bristol City and Sheffield United and have to better our goal difference to get 6th.
