Championship

Can't see beyond the Blunts other finalist will be Coventry as Sunderland have zero form at the moment

League 1

Tough to call this one, fancy Charlton impressed when we played them in the cup, Stockport other finalist

League 2

Chesterfield v Notts County a repeat of the epic Conference Final a couple of seasons ago winner Chesterfield basically on the point of having crept unnoticed into the play off spots on the last day of the season

The Blunts, Leyton Orient and Chesterfield

Well the Blunts are through, personally no qualms about the penalty and sending off and fair play to Wilder, made the changes when they looked like they were making hard work of the second half

Sunderland 2-1 one quality goal the other was a howler.Only Rudoni score for Coventry still to close to call although Sky Blues are not good away from home

Bit late here, sorry. Can't think much beyond Sheff Utd, same as others.

General play-off comment :
NE should have been in the mix this year and probably at least all of the last 6 years. However many years it takes to get back to Browney putting that pen against a post (against Derby?).

Readers may ask for the rationale for that first sentence.

It's quite simple: I assess the various squads on their abilities to play and not necessarily on their long-term performances over any specific season. Every recent manager has had fantastic performances from the team that he managed, at some stage.

The last sentence is one reason why it would be madness to criticise those who administered the club diligently to deliver each of those squads to the paying fans.

(And also where they paid the money - (edit) significant transfer fees in some cases.)

If the players don't deliver, after proving that they are very capable of doing so, that's a very revealing result about them.

And it happened under various managers. (Each manager has also had to bite their tongue.)

Alex Neil wanted to know : I tell them not to play long balls backwards and they still do so, but why ?
(Just one example.)

And if we hadn’t dropped 28 points from winning positions we would have been

Orient drew with Stockport apparently Orient first goal miles offside

County 0 Dons 1
Dons keeper top notch
Country lost McGoldrick injured and Jatta sent off possibly harsh but he did push a Dons player in the face and could probably see red for that

Didn't see Walsall's win, only caught the bore fest at Wycombe, no home side has won yet

no home side has won yet

A frequent play-off occurence, then again, if you finish 10-20-30 points in the League above the side you are playing in the first leg, you should be beating them (probably again) in both the away and the home leg.

The two in the middle might not have been quite that far apart so making sure they don't lose (or at least not too heavily) is first order of the day.
