Ideye - santasabaggie - 09-02-2015

So pleased for this player,i hope the goal against Burnley will be a sign of things to come.Allways wanted him to do well.Keep it up son and the fans will love you.£10m is a big label to carry.

RE: Ideye - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 09-02-2015

He got really angry after getting fouled and booked, and suddenly turned into a beast! If that's what it takes, he should be getting himself psyched up before each and every match and really going out there on a mission (I can imagine him being strapped to a chair Clockwork Orange style, watching videos of atomic explosions and the like).

But seriously, more of the same from him and fans will really get behind him. I hope he can turn things round.

RE: Ideye - WBA-Josh - 09-02-2015

I was very happy that he scored because hopefully it will finally be the turning point for him. I think him being labelled as the £10 million man, when it seems that he didn't cost that much at all, hasn't helped. As someone posted a month ago, it seems that his price will only rise to £9-10 million after different add-ons are unlocked (goals, appearances, cup wins etc).

With Anichebe's injury problems and Berahino's new deeper position on the pitch, Ideye now has a great chance to get in the team and stay there. If he can become the confident player that he was at Dynamo Kyiv then he will be like a brand new January signing.

Did you see him at DK - or any other club - Josh, and if so what was he like? What were his strengths? He MUST have some pretty good attributes for JP to even consider paying half of that fee, let alone the remainder.

RE: Ideye - Stairs - 09-02-2015

He can be our transfer window miracle and become a huge favourite at the club if he can get a few crucial goals over the next few weeks

RE: Ideye - Boing Splat - 09-02-2015

I'd rather have Ideye than Carlton Cole.

I'm a fan of Ukrainian football so I did get the chance to watch him play for Kyiv. (Some old BBC 606 and early New 606 posters may remember my fondness of Shakhtar Donetsk. My old username was WBA-Shakhtar)

Ideye's main strengths are his finishing and his movement. So far there has been glimpses of his good movement where he drags centre-backs out of position which creates space for team mates. Varela's goal against QPR was because of this. His movement when getting into goal scoring positions is also good. His finishing for Kyiv was always at a high standard and he can finish well with his head, like yesterday showed, and when he is put through on goal 1 on 1. He is normally reliable when it comes to 1 on 1's but like all strikers, he needs confidence in front of goal. I still believe that his miss a few weeks ago when he was put through by Berahino was because he was lacking in confidence.

What is important to remember is that he is not a striker who will create much for himself so don't expect him to drop deep, run past 2 men and hit a 25 yard thunderbolt like Berahino can do. He mainly needs the chances created for him so it is imperative that the midfield has creativity in it. Dynamo Kyiv had that creativity in their 4-2-3-1 and we currently have some players who can give him the service that he needs.

I really hope that he can push on from here.

Great point Josh that it's unfair on Ideye to tag that £10 mill on him.
Not sure why the club didn't clear the price up but they seem very vague on these 'undisclosed ' fees.
Looks like we have paid out 4-5 million with the rest in add ons as you said.
Maybe with the disappointments of transfer deadline the real winner could be Ideye staying.
I think every Baggie would love to see him come good and scoring. Fingers crossed for the lad but shame on the club for putting unnecessary pressure on him.
I did read that his family have now joined him in this country so that and the confidence of scoring may make all the difference.

RE: Ideye - Luke_East_Baggie - 10-02-2015

He was the best player on the pitch for me in the 45 mins he came on (although it didn't take much!)

I really can't see TP dropping him for a few games now, he put a real shift in. I hope that he plays as well as he did against Burnley in the next few home matches - I am 100% positive if he does (wether he scores or not) The home faithful will be really pleased with him.

RE: Ideye - BaggyBomber - 10-02-2015

I want this lad to do well so much. Have a look at him on YouTube. He is a very good player who, in all honesty, has been treated very poorly by us yet has he thrown his dummy out? No, I don't recall seeing a single complaint from him and nothing but good comments has he made about the Club.

Best wishes to you, Bobby. I hope we play you the right way and you have success for us and become a big favourite.
