Bag Fit Sam - drewks - 06-05-2021 OK, this thread HAD to be done, and is really a continuation of the same subject on the last page of the thread 'Ding Dong Derby Double', and the question is, in the words of The Clash, "Should He Stay or Should he Go"? Very interesting to read the diverse views aired so far on the above thread. RE: Bag Fit Sam - WBA-Josh - 06-05-2021 I'll keep my comment short so I don't repeat myself. He should be thanked for his hard work and effort and then a parting of ways should occur. Relegation means a failure on his part and, regardless of the slow but steady improvement that we have seen and the poor squad that he inherited, that shouldn't be forgiven with a season in the Championship for him. RE: Bag Fit Sam - Baggievicar - 06-05-2021 I'm inclined to thank him and show him the door. His best result, at Chelsea, came because a couple of early injuries forced him into a different shape and different approach (and even then we nearly had Peltier rather than Robinson). There have just been too many moments when we've (nearly) all been saying WHAT IS HE DOING?? He'll be leaving something definite to build on, but I don't think he's the one to build it. RE: Bag Fit Sam - bomberbrown1968 - 06-05-2021 In the forlorn hope it's a forward thinking man at the helm to replace or even if it's mot then it's bye Sam, failed at what he was brought in to achieve. Not interested in why - poor team inherited, not enough money, couldn't get players in quick enough or anything else. Allardyce signed up with his eyes wide open and knew the score, where we were, what we had and what he had to spend with the remit of saving us. If anyone is still not sure he flopped, we may have stopped leaking so many, but apart from Wolves, Chelsea and Southampton, we couldn't beat a drum. If there's anything that can be salvaged from, or lighten the mood that we've been relegated then it's that Allardyce has lost the "never been relegated" tag ![]() Never wanted him, still wanted the team to win regardless of him and will not change the opinion on the few scraps of positives I've seen RE: Bag Fit Sam - Dingle-Dingle - 07-05-2021 Taxi. DD ![]() ![]() RE: Bag Fit Sam - wba13 - 07-05-2021 I want him to stay now, he’s done a decent job knows players and I cannot think of anyone out there better to bring in. As I’ve said before don’t like the man but he knows how to set up a side and can be relied on to bring in good players. RE: Bag Fit Sam - harrogatebaggie - 07-05-2021 Bilic had an entertaining team last year, but he made the mistakes of insisting on pereira, Krovinovic, Diangana and Grant, who were all attacking midfielders, and not looking or interested in any alternatives, thus spending all the pot we had. We either had to stick with him and accept we may have an entertaining match every so often and accept the inevitability of relegation. However with a poor defence, it was dire to watch us being pissed on nearly every week. If Bilic had been kept on, he would have lost what little of his hair he still had, and probably so would most of us fans. So I think it was right to change to Sam and try and stay up. Big Sam knew what needed changing and tried to bring in what we needed, in a transfer window which all teams struggled in. At least the last 10 games, we have been in the games, and has brought some pride back into the performances. I think whoever was manager, pereira and Johnstone would have wanted to go next year, and I think they are worth more due to how we have performed over the last 2.5 months, which should result in a higher transfer kitty. Based on all the above I would vote for BS to be kept on, and told we don’t want just promotion but want the baggies attacking style to be seen. BS loves a bit of wheeling and dealing, I think he will not want a relegation as the last line on his cv. I am positive we can bounce back. RE: Bag Fit Sam - Salopbaggie - 07-05-2021 Hmm, I am unsure to be honest, yes Bilic had his faults, but did he achieve what was asked of him (getting us promoted) a year early at that and he got sacked. It looks extremely likely SA will not do what was asked of him (keep us up), so should he keep his job? RE: Bag Fit Sam - Arcane Astral Aeons - 07-05-2021 nowt like a manager most did not want to create discord among us fans like him(not many)...hate him(most do) kinda begs the question would he have kept us up had we got rid rid of bilic at the start of the season lets face it even before lockdown we were starting to struggle we should have changed him at the start of this season big sam would not have been on my list had we done so and whatever happens next season if sam stays or goes i DO NOT WANT a foreign manager...they are clueless inept at championship level please bring in(if sam goes) a english coach rant over RE: Bag Fit Sam - drewks - 08-05-2021 (07-05-2021, 22:43)Arcane Astral Aeons Wrote: nowt like a manager most did not want to create discord among us fans Hmmmm.....
