Well done Sam J . I think - Salopbaggie - 18-03-2021

Good news that Sam Johnson has got an England senior call up, I was trying to remember the last serving Baggie to pull on the three lions at senior level for a competitive match.

Well done SJ that’s shoved some of those negative fans criticism down there throats.
Jake Livermore played in a World Cup qualifier v Scotland in 2017 that I remember. Before that it could have been Carson.

I had forgotten about the Scotland game I do remember him playing a friendly against France in that year.

Was Fozzie not called up after Carson?

Correct he was in and played in the 2014 World Cup I think he played against Costa Rica 0 0 draw.

He was, its trying to sort the competitive from the non-competitive. I think he played in a 2-2 draw against Ecuador in 2014, but that was a friendly. It does look as if he played the full game against Costa Rica in the same year, which was technically a group game, but it was to late for us to qualify for the last 16 by then.

Fair play to him. He deserves the call up and it's nice to see a baggie in the squad.

I wasn't a fan at all during our 2 seasons in the Championship. I thought he made too many errors that cost us points, particularly failing to deal with crosses and command the box.

But I call a square a square and he's come on leaps and bounds this year. He's probably more suited to the Premier League when there are less teams laying siege to the box aerially than in the Championship. He was always a good shot stopper, so it's helped his cause that we spent 6 months without a midfielder at the club who bothered closing down shots. At times he's been a battering ram, having to keep us in games.

I suspect he will be one of those sold in the summer to generate some funds for the rebuild, given he's unlikely to sign a new contract. This should add a few extra ££££'s on the fee too, so can only be a good thing.

And I think in Alex Palmer we have an excellent replacement

I think it's a great call up and thoroughly deserved, well done SJ.
Unfortunately I can't see him staying with us in the championship, and why would he want to. He above all others deserves a high money move which benefits him and more importantly the club. His sale could generate some serious cash.
I can only wish him the very best for the future. (Still hoping it's as a baggie)

Don't sell him to Barcelona then!!

Did we ever get that money they owed us or has it gone in the Chairman's pocket? Angry
