Hibs AGM tomorrow night - questions to ask?
Posted by: 0762 - 15-12-2015, 01:06 - Forum: Hibernian - Replies (64)

From a football perspective, this AGM takes place at a good time for HFC as the team continues on it's unbeaten run. So I'd expect there will be less criticism than previously experienced. However, I think some searching questions should be raised re the club's declared £840k loss and what we're gonna do to return to being 'in the black' again. Not enough Hibs fans returning in significant numbers and hence, less revenue - why? Ticket prices possibly too high? Promotion would be helpful but we're discovering Scottish football is not as financially buoyant and invigorating either - we're in a slump!

Jurgen Klopp

not sure what the guy is getting worked up about
apparently West Brom only play long ball and depend on set pieces.

so effing what
if it works it works and yesterday it worked almost to perfection

as much as i like the guys enthusiasm
i don`t like his attitude towards other teams playing to their particular strengths

Match Thread - MK Dons v SWFC
Posted by: St Charles Owl - 13-12-2015, 18:04 - Forum: Sheffield Wednesday - Replies (184)

THE MATCH - TUESDAY 15TH DECEMBER 2015 7.45PM KO

[Image: 150px-MK_Dons.png]    v    [Image: 150px-Sheffield_Wednesday.svg.png]

After three consecutive draws, we find ourselves facing The Franchise needing to get a win to put us fully back on track for the playoffs.  This is a game we would always have put down as one we should be looking to win at the start of the season, and now we are 20 games in with us near the playoffs and them in a relegation spot there is no reason why that opinion should have changed.  Quite simply, if we are to challenge for the playoff spots then this is the sort of game we have to winning.

Obviously with the Dons being a new team we have a very short record against them, this will only be the 9th time we have played them with a record of W2 D5 L1, and this will be the first time at this level.  At their place we have W1 D2 L1 record, with our loss being the last game we played their in the FA Cup 3rd round back in January 2013.  Our best away win was a nice 4-1 comeback win that saw Neil Mellor grabbing a hat trick.

LINKS BETWEEN THE CLUBS

In years gone by MK Dons have almost been our second string team with so many players having played for both teams including Lewis Baker, Benik Afobe, Mark Beevers, Jon Otsemobor, Leon Knight, Chris Lines, Miguel Llera, Ryan Lowe, Wade Small, Jon-Paul McGovern, Clinton Morrison and James Tavernier.  Danny Wilson of course played for us and has managed both teams.

In terms of current staff:
Lewis Price - played for them in 2008
Darren Potter - current Vice Captain for them.
Richie Barker - current Head of Coaching, started playing career with us but only played in the Intertoto Cup.
Paul Heald - current goalkeeping coach played for us 5 times while on loan in 2002.

I am sure there are other links between the clubs, if you know of any please feel free to mention!!

THE LAST MATCH

Another draw, and another comeback, this time from 2 goals down after some not so good defending!!  Its good that we are able to come back but its time we actually started a game like we seem to be able to finish them.  FF got our first with a fine effort from 25 yards and Bannan finally got his first goal in a Wednesday shirt to complete the scoring.  Here is the video:

OUR TEAM

I expect CC to once again make some changes.  Will Joao start or will we see Nuhiu back in, will Hutchinson be fit or will Lopez start, does Lee need a rest with McGugan replacing him, will he stick with Loovens and Turner, will Palmer give way to Hunt and so it goes on!! Aside from that I would like the team to look like this:

Westwood

Palmer  Loovens Turner  Pudil

Lee  Hutchinson
Bannan  Forestieri Matias

Joao

WHO'S THE BASTARD IN THE BLACK

REF - DARREN DEADMAN
Assts - Matt Foley and Christopher Pollard
Fourth Official - Brendan Malone

MS will hopefully give us the skinny on this guy in previous Owls games!!

Oxley v McGinn & Man of the Match
Posted by: HerefordBull - 13-12-2015, 12:46 - Forum: Hibernian - Replies (7)

One thing is for sure neither Oxley or McGinn would have been up for Man of the Match.   Wink

It is always hard for Goalkeepers as they may only have a couple of things to do all game ( as Oxley had yesterday) but a speculative , not very well hit long shot squirms from his grasp and leads to a goal....instant villain.

McGinn through a rash challenge leaves his team for over half the game down to ten men is equally culpable as we had to change the tactics to defending with 2 banks of four and trying to break quickly and thus giving them the ball in the second half. Having said that Houston only had one thought....pump crosses into the box as we are vulnerable........well yesterday Mr Houston we were not and it took a large piece of good fortune for you to score. You didn't even create anything when we were down to 9 men.  Doh

Finally after all the poor decision making , mainly by Clancy with the whistle, who decided that Cummings was Man of the Match ?   Huh    With over half the game given over to defending deeper because of the sending off our Man of the Match, in my opinion, had to come from the defence or perhaps one of the midfielders who had to not only defend but also break quickly eg: Fyvie who had one of his best games yesterday in a green and white shirt.  Thumb up

It seems the people who choose it always want to give it to the "glory" goalscorers and are not able to read the rest of the game and team. Yes, Cummings worked hard yesterday but so did the rest of the side and he didn't in the end do what he is paid for....score a goal. He shouldn't have got it for his blatant dive trying to win a penalty anyway!   Doh  Perhaps the people choosing it are just deciding whom they want to meet in hospitality afterwards   Confused

Anyway we got a " Get out of Jail " card yesterday,  lets make good use of it next week against Queens    Thumb up

GGTTH

ps  'mon the Bairns next week

  Birmingham City @Deepdale 15/12/2015
Posted by: themaclad - 13-12-2015, 10:53 - Forum: Preston North End - Replies (1)

The matches come thick and fast at this time of year as the Blues arrive at PR1 on Tuesday, they got a very good point at Middlesbrough yesterday and generally this season they have been better on the road than at St Andrews.
Playing the Blues brings back memories of Trevor Francis throwing his toys out of the pram at the penalty shoot out in the play off semi final in 2001. Happy days.
As I said Birmingham have won five away and lost in the 10 away games they have played. Since last season Rowett has turned them around from relegation candidate to play off possibilities. No big names in the squad due to financial constraints of having their owner having a possible prison sentence in front of him. Highly rated Demari Gray, also up front they have Clayton I always score against Preston Donaldson however he did not play yesterday.
Backed by the usual 1000 plus support it should bring a bit of atmosphere to the last night game of the year.
Same again for us cannot see Grayson making any changes, never change a winning team and we probably won't.

  FA CUP 2nd Round WEEK
Posted by: Devongone - 12-12-2015, 14:32 - Forum: Football related - Replies (4)

The Ups and Downs of this stupid game are beginning to kick in. Dingle Dingle has been shipping points fast due to three of his selections accumulating minus points and has hit rock bottom. Snoots is beginning a steady climb, and after boasting I'd top-scored the other week I've bagged 16 points followed by a delicious -20. Consilio continues to reap rich rewards for consistency. But I can't help feeling someone from mid-table is going to benefit from the right managers staying in place or leaving and a couple of their selections having either a great run, or a disastrous fall from grace. Things can change fast. If Alloa start winning or Rangers lose Warburton and have a further dabble with Administration the whole complexion of the game would change.
