Well it is "straight out of the frying pan and into the fire" for Hibs after a disgraceful capitulation v Hertz on Tuesday night!! THERE HAS TO BE A REACTION FROM THE MANAGER AND THE PLAYERS!!! I DEMAND IT AND I'M SURE THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF ANGRY, SHORT-CHANGED HIBS FANS WHO SHARE A SIMILAR SENTIMENT!! So where do we start?? IMO we deal with this accident-prone defence that I've been "banging on" about for months!!! Jackson and Hanlon together? Stevo at full back? Whadya think? Does Jack Ross ignore this issue and just "read the riot act" or finally impose changes? We need to toughen that defence now!! It looks like McNulty will be suspended but I'd actually play young Jamie Gullan anyway as McNulty was dreadful v Hertz! Also secure a mid "anchor role" and lets protect our defence in the same way that we used to do it with Mark Milligan and more rigidly with big Marv!! We need effective action and must move forward positively!!! Lastly one question I'd pose after watching that debacle last night - "Is our manager as tactically astute as we assume that he is"? Has he learned from his Sunderland failure? I'd like to think so but wonder if that is truly the case!! IMO never as good as Neil Lennon but Jack Ross can easily change that by managing with real vision, nous and awareness in the weeks/months ahead and proving any doubters to be wrong.

GGTTH
Hope we put in a performance today, undroppable Allan still in the team can Jack Ross not see what everyone else is watching, also the same defence that leaks goals for fun, Ross needs to realise this cant continue, we go to a semi final with that defence we will concede goals.
1st half we were in control and should have finished them off, after Whittaker saw red (a stupid challenge as well and personally I would have subbed him earlier) it was always going to be an uphill battle and we predictably caved in. We struggle to defend with 11 never mind 10.

We are soft as shite guys. Look at accies the day, they went down to 10 but dug in and got a win. Teams with physical power and will to win get the result against us generally, look how many points we have shipped from winning positions. The game with Saint Johnstone is now key - they could take our place in the top 6 with a win.

Ross has to find a leader on the park for us in the summer as priority number 1....Cos no one currently seems up for the job.

Good comments but I'll add to them by slamming into the manager for not subbing Whittaker on a 0-1 score line, the midfielder committing fouls after that 1st yellow card and no immediate response to remove him and the threat of going down to 10 men - HE DIDN'T DO IT FFS!! We need a leader in the summer????? We need more than that - IMO WE NEED A CLEAR OUT OF MOST OF OUR OLDER PLAYERS WHO HAVE NO BACKBONE WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH AND WE REGULARLY CONCEDE FROM WINNING POSITIONS!!!!!! I think this team has lost about 24 pts from winning positions!!!!!! Thumb down
Re the Saint Johnstone game next week, I think we are definitely gonna lose this match, will drop down into a bottom 6 position and we are moving towards a Ross "master class" in "throwing a footie season"!! Yes, it is as bad as that and I'm basing that prediction on observation of what is going on in recent matches incl this one. This manager doesn't appear to have any kinda positive reaction or alternative strategy when a game "turns" against him. In today's game IMO he created his own problem at 0-1 and then, down to 10 men, he influenced zilch from his dugout position and we were losing goals within minutes of Whittaker's departure!! I agree re the fact the lack of leaders and "battlers" was so glaring. I can't believe HFC didn't redress the most glaring defensive weaknesses during the Jan transfer period - absolutely bizarre when one compares all the positive "chat"/aspiration coming out of Ron Gordon's mouth at the recent AGM!!!! That positivity and healthy ambition is not reflected on the pitch and we are on a massive "downer"!!! Thumb down

I finally watched the Jackson "wonder" own goal at 0-1 and words fail me re the mentality attached to certain players like him. In the space of 6 days I've watched one moronic pk "give away" goal v Hertz by Allan and that is followed by another total moron called Jackson who already had questionable defensive qualities when previously used by a useless manager called Paul Heckingbottom. This led me to become embroiled in a raging argument with my son re giving my time to supporting them in an upcoming Scot Cup semi-final if they are not gonna earn that support. Why should we support a group of players who don't deserve that backing???? Also my observation as a watching Hibs fan from the stand is that a good few Hibs players don't show the "hurt pride" or real disappointment that I certainly expect as a passionate fan and an ex footie player who never liked to lose any game!!! eg Allan acts as though he has been playing in some kinda "fun" game of footie - lucky I was never his team captain because I would never have tolerated that kinda attitude and he'd f####### well know about it!! The way I see it is that this group of players are on the "brink of implosion" because they have no mental character or fighting spirit when threatened in such circumstances where everything has been "turned around on a sixpence" and they can do nothing about it v more durable and motivated opponents - an absolute disgrace but not a total surprise for Hibs fans who have observed such a disappointing scenario at this point of a winter season in seasons gone by and with a manager who appears to be limited in his organisational accountability and proper use of the players at his disposal!!
I just don't get it with Scott Allan. He's clearly got all the skill necessary to be a cracking playmaker (some of his passing v the dons was very good), yet he too often makes really daft mistakes or disappears from games completely. Brendan Rodgers obviously didn't fancy him at all - I don't think he played once under him. He's not a ballwinner or a leader either - I think he's a bit of a luxury player for us.
Don't forget in the latter part of his contribution to Dundee FC's relegation season he was "found out" and dropped" by the Dundee manager and my brief observations of Allan and his attitude were similar to what I have been watching now - not forgotten from my pt of view and he is indeed a "luxury" player Jim. He'd never be in my line up in a match where the manager requires every player to be "battling for their lives" and a strong work ethic is required!
