A good first half from us but we really needed that second goal which never materialised.
Smiths goal was sublime and came direct from a 1 on 1 with Jalal (1 of 3 which he saved them all).
Second half we never got out of first gear and we made some poor substitutions. Denton was having a torrid time with Montrose (didnt he play for us years ago) and was fouled every time he went for the ball. He was left on and Boden went off for Tyson who looked fast and would have done much better paired with Boden. Denton did ok with defensive headers but was too slow to support a whippet on the break.
The other substitution was Mandeville on for Wedgebury which gave Fylde the midfield. Mandeville was poor and continually gave the ball away.
Jalal really was excellent and deserved MOM. A draw was a fair result but some even handed refereeing should have given us 2 pens and them down to 10 men.
We are still a work in progress. Like the look of Cropper from Burnley. He has a hell of a throw on him and is quick on the ball. Need to up our game next week.
I listened to the game on BBC Lancashire they were obviously backing Fylde but sounds like they didn't think much to how we played. It did sound nervy towards the end and sounded like we could have threw it away in the last minute.

We might have drawn but we are still unbeaten. Fylde have got 2 games in hand and weirdly the last time they won a game in the league was 23rd November.

Our fixture list is going to be tough in February

1st A Notts County
8th H Wrexham
15th A Yeovil
22nd H Ebbsfleet United
29th H Harrogate Town

15pts from those games would be fantastic but I think we should be aiming for at least 10-11pts. The home games are the most important in my opinion. If we can get some momentum at home and also turn the Proact into a fortress it could help us stay up. We need to make it difficult for away teams to take points off us at home.
8pts from those games would be wonderful. Beating Wrexham and Ebbsfleet and grabbing a draw in one of the others would be good. 5 or 6 points sounds realistic. A draw with Ebbsfleet and four defeats wouldn't surprise me.
Fylde were a good side, they wont go down. I dont know why they are where they are but they are much better than their league position suggests.
I presume its only 3 down this year if there is only 1 team being relegated from Lge 2?
So it looks like Chorley and Ebbsfleet plus 1 other. If we beat Wrexham and Ebbsfleet we could do with 2 points from the other 3 games.
When the opposition keeps looking better than its league position it does tell a story, and the ending is rarely a happy one.
Sorry to be proved right for once, but 10 points or more from 5 games looks a distant prospect after a 3-0 at Notts County.

Everything we do seems to me to bear the hallmarks of relegation. We've got band aids and paracetamol and we need a defibrillator sharpish.
Couldn't believe Bodens penalty miss. He never even looked. Keeper went and he put it straight at him then didnt follow it up.

That is odd because if the keeper saves it but doesn't hold it then team mates or whoever took the penalty can follow up. Whereas if it hit the post or crossbar the penalty taker can't touch the ball on the rebound.
Penalty takers are under pressure. Sometimes people just freeze in such circumstances. Obviously Boden was suffering brain fog. Maybe Fitzsimmons had had sessions with Boden taking penalties in training and that is what was wrong with Boden. If so he shouldn't have been taking the penalty. Maybe Evans should have stepped in and said "I'll just belt it!"

Anyway after seeing two Gundogan penalties in a short time I'm thinking of coming out of retirement in goal. With that run up I immediately thought when I saw him score one, if he goes for the other side any keeper worth his salt will read it and Lloris did. Coming at that angle Gundogan had to open up his body to go that side ……… he might as well have held up instructions.

And now we've got Fitzsimmons back ……….

A few days ago we COULD have got Grant Smith on loan from Lincoln ……… but Boreham Wood jumped in and now they have two better goalkeepers than us despite having a crowd around only 600 for their promotion bid!
Probably to do with no contribution to wages. Pemberton has said he cant spend anything.
