Tomorrow evening we head to The Valley, home of the Addicks since 1919; apart from one year in the 20s when they played at the Mount Stadium, Catford and 1985 to 1992 when it was closed due to financial and safety problems. During that period they played at the Crystal Palace and West Ham grounds.

Head to head

Our last match was in the 2015/16 championship season and we won 5-0 at home. The fixture at the Valley earlier that season had been a closer 2-1 win to us.

They are 4 places above us in 17th but only 5 points ahead.

Top Scorers

Macauley Bonne and Conor Gallagher on 6 each.
Jonathan Leko and Kyle Taylor on 5 each.

We, of course, have Karlan Grant on 11, Juninho Bacuna on 5 and Fraizer Campbell on 2.

Form

Charlton's recent results are no better than ours with 5 losses and a draw which came on 23rd November against Cardiff at home.

What the managers are saying

Danny Cowley's press conference today...

Lee Bowyer is remaining quiet from what I can see.

Talking of 42 carat plonkers...

Rodney Charlton Trotter was named after the club.

Crisp Owl played for Charlton on three separate occasions. He managed them from 2011 and was unceremoniously dismissed by their new owners in 2014. He was then taken on by us and steadied our ship. He was let go by us in 2015 so we could start our Wagner Revolution.

He's electric, he came from Charlton Athletic, I don't think he'll regret it  Whistle ...

... he's Karlan Grant.

Fame for the wrong reasons

On the 21st December 1957, we were 5-1 up at the Valley. We went on to lose 7-6. That makes us the only team in football league history to get 6 goals away from home and still lose. No ambitions to beat that record, please.

That's your lot... totally forgot I was doing this. If anyone can help with travel tips, etc, I'd be grateful. Thanks.
Well done Chaffers.

I asked her earlier, has theo posted his match thread yet? To which she said no.
Had a quick look at the fixtures thread and declared, oh no it's you.

An hour of frantic typing later, here it is.

Bravo! Thumb up
Never mind that, what about poor Donny Rovers having to get to the Valley by 11.15 on Christmas Day in 1957!
Travel tips. Head South, keep going South, when the smog gets too thick to see and the people don't acknowledge you when you talk to them, you've found London.

After that, Google maps is your best friend, say hello to queenie and up yours to the baffoon in downers street
Then a train from London Bridge to the ground (give or take a couple of hundred yards).

Must admit I had to look too, couldn't remember which one in December I'd volunteered for.

1957. Pre Beeching. Properly run railways. You could get anywhere by train.
Not football related but I just realised that I said "in the 20s" in my thread. Next year we will be in another 20s. Frightening.
Edmonds-Green in for Duhaney, who is ill.
Simpson on the bench.
Kick off delayed til 7.50 because the team coach is delayed.
