Ayr boosted their Championship hopes on Tuesday morning with the capture of highly rated Hearts right back, Liam Smith.
The 22-year-old has signed a one year deal after coming through the Jambos youth system and playing 30 times for their first team.
Smith, who spent last season on loan at St Mirren, made the Championship team of the year.
