I have not the skills to even be a bad football manager but I know from experience that the best form of defence is attack.
OK if we left ourselves open by pushing forward we may have been punished but another goal or two against isn't going to make too much difference.
I will not criticise Mr Pulis ( he needs addressing correctly ) too much but he could have been braver. I do not understand what his negative tactics achieved. Yes I do - nothing !! Even if he had gone for it after it after Man City got the first goal I would have appreciated it.

We need to be entertaining and positive. This may create the confidence to go forward but with the addition of a few new, younger, talented players.

I have supported the Baggies since the mid fifties ( rarely paying for a ticket in the early days no money and kindly staff ) and more than enjoyed the football I watched.

Perhaps its the commercialisation, the greed, the inflated salaries and Sky.

Rant over

It would appear that all our posts last night are the same and we all agree. I have now calmed down and still stand by what I posted.

Pulis has well and truly reverted back to type. I don't understand it one bit and I am embarrassed by it. I don't really expect to win against Citeh but not to have a real go until the end is unbelievable. Yes they are far better BUT they worked so hard in closing us down. They did what we should have been doing. as soon as their back 4 got the ball we dropped that far back we were about half way in our own half.

NEGATIVE NEGATIVE NEGATIVE

As I said last night we looked like relegation fodder and Pulis would ordinarily be up for the chop. I'm sorry but enough is enough.

In my opinion it's time to get a more dynamic manager in who could attract players who like to play football and like to attack because we have a reputation thanks to Pulis of being a very negative team.

Seems like our regulars are "on the beach" - never mind the players.

I'm probably going out tonight, so I can't get too excited. But I can only see (something like) 3-0 to City.

Bomber, Asa, and Suggo(?) in the photo?

Ay up, talkSAFT. I'm not on the beach, but I am on holiday, in Canada.
Behind Bomber, Asa and Suggett are (I think) Len Cantello (left) and The King (right).
Whoever said it was right about Pulis setting up for nil-nil draws and being completely unadventurous and lacking any ambition to attack. His argument will be that, if we attack, we get hammered. The counter to that is, if we don't attack, we won't score. I'd rather lose 4-2 or 5-3 than 3-1 or 2-0. I was actually surprised we scored.
Personally the last 3 months have been shite, big summer clearance (if anyone has the bottle or balls to do this) as the squad is soooo old and aging fast. Time to drop the old guard as its boring.
it was about 5 or 6 games ago i looked at the remaining fixtures and said 11th place 46 pts i believe? Its looking ever so likely now I did say we might actually get something out of the so called bigger teams but that bit hasn't happened. I didn't even bother with this game as I knew man city would win by 2 or more goals. I'm now going to say that I absolutely expect us to lose at swansea also at best we might limp to a draw but we dont have a great record against this lot and they can play without fear now they are safe. This has been a sickening end to the season its been like watching a favourite pet slowly die and if the players have truly given their all then why the hell are we losing week in week out and cannot score a goal in 5 matches. Those of you still hoping for 8th place and 48 points I would suggest you dont get your hopes up. The only glimmer of hope is that bournemouth play leicester in their final game and one might cancel the other out but its still very possible we will finish 11th as i predicted. Utterly cheesed off with it all

I believe we've got decent enough players. It's TP's approach to games that needs to change.

Well I think I will try and be a bit positive and look at the season as a whole.

At the start of the season I would gladly have taken a campaign without any relegation fears, with a shot at a top ten place and 45 points.

My thought is the sequence of results over the 37 games have (understandably) influenced opinions and raised false expectations.
Had the current run of results happened first, followed by a massive turnaround to get (possible) top ten then TP would get much praise.
In my mind, the reality is all clubs outside of the top 7 get good runs & bad runs - and this is why we are not one of the big 7.
Overall, I feel we have had more good days than bad - and a lot of other teams would be grateful for that.

As for the recent run of results, am I the only one who thinks we were unfortunate to suffer four 0-1 results at home ?
Southampton - 3 or 4 good saves from Forster and a wonder strike for saints.
Liverpool - silly free kick conceded and defensive switch off.
Leicester - even, but gifted a goal with an awful back pass.
Chelsea - Outclassed but defeated following a miscued shot that turned into a great pass.

Anyway, speaking personally, I made it up from Somerset 13 times (can't do many pre xmas due to work) and only came away really disappointed with the performance once - Palace.

Maybe I'm a glass half full person - and maybe with a couple of big name summer signings the cup will runneth over.
you make a good point BB I think its because we've hit such a poor run of form and week in week out since the arsenal win its a bitter pill to swallow when you think we were very close to giving everton a run for their money then it all went very sour. Winning an odd game amongst the last 6 or 7 or even a surprise cheeky draw at chelsea or man c might have given us all a bit of cheer but youre right to say 45 pts safe way before seasons end is a realistic and relatively
pleasing season
