THE MATCH - SAT 22nd AUGUST 2015 12.30PM UK TIME
V
Here we go with the first stupid kick off time of the season!! Washington and I will have to be up at 4.30am to watch this one but at least we can actually get it on a sports channel over here!! The games against one of our hated rivals is always one to look out for when the fixtures come out and this season we get them very early as our 4th game. This rivalry is a funny one though, it really only exists because we are both in Yorkshire but if you asked both sets of fans who their rivals were neither set would pick each other. Of course we have a little city rival that we can most of the time lord over , whereas they have these complete delusions of grandeur and have this stupid notion that their main rivals are Man Utd!! Of course if you ask any MU fan, they will tell you that L**ds are not, and never have been, on their radar as a rival. Still its always nice to know that Yorkshire has a team who were Champions of Europe, although for some reason the history books fail to record their magnificent feat!!! For me though I think I hate these guys probably more than the blunts, mainly because my hatred stems not only to the club but to most of their knobhead fans as well!!! So as a tribute to their fans I have included a profile of their typical wife/girlfriend/sister:
Unfortunately there won't be many Owls fans there for this one. A combination of the game being on Sky, early kick-off, crap seats with a crap view, ticket prices and the general nasty atmosphere outside the ground there will only be about 1500 Wednesday fans there. Thats a shame as this fixture always used to sell out with a great following just about guaranteed every season.
The head-to-head with the scum still sits in their favor at P89 W30 D23 L36, but our record at Bellend Road is not great at P44 W9 D13 L22!!! Still we are unbeaten in 2 games there and only lost one out of the last 4, so there is some hope!! Of course this weeks video is from 2007 when we sailed into a 3-0 lead despite having Tudgay sent off in the 49th minute, before they came back with two late goals and nearly snatched what would have been a very undeserved equaliser. The Brunt goal is one of the best Owls goals ever and JJs effort was pretty good as well. Note the away fans back in the days when they gave us the end instead of the pokey corner!!
THE LAST MATCH
Not much need to say a lot about that game, poor performance with a better than deserved result!! Its still early in the building of this team but that was a worrying performance that needs to be erased quickly. Matias and McGugan have both now had a couple of poor games, they obviously have the ability they need to add consistency to their performances now. Far too early to write anyone or the team off at this stage but I expect some changes by CC after that!! I will leave the last words on this game to CC himself:
"It was not a good night, but we won one point - we didn't lose two points. It was a game when Lewis Price did not have much work to do. It wasn't a good match. A lot of players were not at the same level they usually play. They controlled the game in the first half and we lost a little confidence. To have a little luck, we must fight."
FUNNY COMMENT FROM LAST MATCH THREAD
A couple of "jokes" were posted on the last match thread but I chose the following doozy from Stateside:
"Have a good feeling about today. I hope Dapper Dan has the troops drilled and ready."
Of course I have the benefit of hindsight now that we are post-crap performance but this one did stick in my mind as we were listening to the game!!!
OUR TEAM
What will CC do after the inept performance against Reading? Will he drop a couple of players or will he stick with the supposed first 11?? Its a tough decision but thats what he is paid to do.
The following is my prediction for the opening line-up:
Price
Hunt Sasso Lees Wiggins
Lee Semedo Lopez
Wallace Joao Matias
WHO'S THE BASTARD IN THE BLACK
Ref - Michael Jones
Assts - Timothy Wood & Jonathan Hunt

MS will hopefully give us the skinny on this guy in previous Owls games!!
CURRENT FORM
