Championship rumour thread with less substance than `The Sun`, if youve a mate who saw Nicky Maynard`s limo pull up to the ground before lunch or a mate who saw Jordan Rhodes House shopping in your town, post dodgy Championship rumours here Big Grin

Matt Mills -Bolton to Nottm Forest (out of contract)

Jason Shackell-Burnely to Derby

Stevie May-Sheffield Wednesday to Aberdeen
Aberdenn have stated that they made a move for May but we told them he would not be going anywhere. Even after a mediocre first season it seems we are going to give the 22 year old at least another season to see if he has what it takes or not. If not I expect a loan move back to Scotland in January.
McInnes has done well turning players around, I dont see the Strikeforce as a worry-Adam Rooney has knocked them in for fun, Goodwillie seems to have got back on track, McGinn can score or play anywhere, Shankland will probably come through more this year

I think May should improve if his confidence is kept high, hes young and talented enough actually thought it was a bit of a steal money wise
I think we overpaid for him!! The difference between the Championship and Scottish prem is definitely bigger that people think and he has struggled to get used to having very little space and always having a defender on your back. Having said that, the service we provided our strikers this season was appaling and getting in a couple of wingers and attacking midfielders will definitely help him and allow him more space. I hope we give him some time and some service because he certainly showed flashes of having the ability.
I think personally and it is personal opinion that its too easy to judge Scottish football as inferior or crap, it is a different kind of Football to that played in England-certainly more physical and perhaps faster, size has pushed over skill a lot thankfully that seems to be slowly changing, playing attractive football is creeping in a lot more than the lump it styles of five years ago

Is there talent to be bought North of the border? A resounding yes! Really decent players are beginning to filter through some may have come via the Foreign leagues but some are coming through the academies. Sheff Wed bought May for 800,000 thats for the top goalscorer in the SPL who looked to have it all in his Arsenal, you`d be lucky if Burnley or Millwall would let you have a player for 4m.
Not every bright hopeful talented young scotsman who goes south prospers-for every Kenny Daglish a Frank McGarvey, even the likes of Jim Baxter and Ally Mccoist failed, more recently Fraser Fyvie,Joe Allen and David Goodwillie have all returned early to the Scots leagues however look at Ryan Fraser and Andrew Robertson amongst others.
Yeah Scots leagues arent Barca v Bayern but its a worthy place to scout for a potential bargain

Notice ex Don Jack Grimmer is out of contract at Fulham, I thought he`d signed an extension? He seemed to be ready to crack the first team

Winger Bakary Sako is out of contract at Wolves, would certainly be a good step forward yes?
I agree with that Turkey, the Scottish game is still a lot fo blood and thunder, which is what the English game used to be. The thing about the Scottish game is once you get below the top few teams the standard does drop away. May I think has got it, we just need to give him the service to prove it!!

Bakary Sako is a player I would definitely like to see at S6, but I think he will be heading for the prem.
To be fair SCO, I honestly believe with the right service May could be a 20+ per season striker, and whatever happens I would play him in preference to Nuhiu (who tries hard and sheds blood for the owls) , but from the flashes I have seen from May I do think the guy has some skill and just needs someone to give him the right pass and more importantly, a manager who has belief in him !!
I agree with that Wereham, the service to all out strikers has been awful. May is 22, he has time to come good and I hope its with us, but for that to happen he needs to get off to a good start in pre-season and into the season proper! Nuhiu should be nowhere near the team next season.

I will be interesting to see who spends what in the Championship this off season. A number of clubs, including us, have money, and a lot are getting parachute payments as well. I thinks clubs will want to get a marquee signing in as soon as possible to signal their intent and use that to sign other players, particularly those players who could go to the prem but only as bench warmers.
Think you deserve a decent Manager rather than Dave Jones or Stuart Gray, its all a bit underwhelming

Released Derby and Northern Ireland forward Jamie Ward wanted by fair play freebie Kings Nottingham Forest?

You won't see much argument on here regarding replacing Gray, but on other forums there still seem to be more in favor of him staying.  Tactically he is not great and has a habit of playing too many players out of position.  We are difficult to beat and therefore won't get relegated but can he take us further towards the playoffs??  Time will tell and we will have to wait to see who he brings in now that we have more freedom to spend on transfer fees and wages, but hopefully they have him on a short leash if we do not start well!!
