THE LAST MATCH

The last games was one of those odd occasions where we managed to get an away win, yet just about universally we were unhappy about it!! The reason for our angst was the performance by all accounts was dire and we were playing the true whipping boys of the division!!  Was this justified, probably not completely, but I think it was a culmination of so many of these performances over the course of the season causing our frustration!!  For those wishing to relive it, here is the video!!




THE MATCH - SAT 14TH MARCH 2015 15.00 GMT

OK, this Saturday we see Fulham visiting S6.  At the start of the season they were on many peoples list as one of the favorites for promotion having just come down, but they have struggled virtually all season!!  Of course we were the one game where they didn't struggle    and they soundly beat us 4-0!!  The only positive for us was the superb away following with over 4,000 Owls fans in attendance!!

This will the 68th meeting between us and our record so far is W28 D14 L25, but when you look at our home record against them it is not so close W20 D9 L5.  The obviously don't travel well to Sheffield, but we do not like Craven Cottage.  So on that basis this is a home banker isn't it??




CLASSIC MATCH

From what I can see there are no classic matches against these guys down the years, certainly none with videos to show!!!

So instead in honor of the Class of '05 Speacial evening that took place this week, I have added the video of that game in Cardiff for us all to enjoy and dream about the playoffs next season!!  Unfortunately I was not back for that game, simply couldn't afford the cost of the flights at short notice, so I went to a pub in downtown Chicago that was showing it live and serving full english breakfasts as well.  Didn't know what to expect when I got there as it was a Celtic pub, but they had the game on in a back room and when I walked in with my whole family and a couple of friends, there were already 25 Wednesday fans (and 2 Hartlepool fans) sat waiting for the game to start!!!  Had a great time singing joyously with 25 strangers, in a foreign city with one thing in common - The Owls!!!

I think its fair to say that we are reaching the point where SG will finally be honoured with the "Lifetime in the Muppet League" award!!!

I was at that game in cardiff, a fresh faced 11 year old not many memories of the game as a whole, remember all the wednesday goals - Whelans in particular because my Dad and little brother both almost missed it going to the bogs and obviously the Talbot goal

The streets of Cardiff were ridiculous. We got there early (9am ish) and went straight to the pub when the city was empty, Came out maybe an hour and half later and it was just one big sea of wednesday fans, and the noise when the team bus went past I just can't describe it.

Lets hope we can have another day like that next year (and maybe I can enjoy the pubs a bit more )

I came so close to booking a flight back to England for it but by the time we knew we were in the final the cost of the flight was up to nearly $2,000!! I should have had more faith and booked it before we got there and paid the $1,000 fare!!!!!! My parents and nephew went, they said it was superb!! I don't regret it because my experience in the Celtic pub was a unique one as well!!

I was there that day too brill atmosphere........one of my so called friends sneaked off at half time........later found out he'd blagged his way into a hospitality suite...got absolutely bladdered and didn't make it back for 3 days.....
