With International week not much happening apart from the usual rumors regarding the players mentioned in the above bits

Interesting one though linked is Curacao winger Brandley uwas of Heracles Almelo with Leeds United

Although it is only four games, a narrow loss against World Champions France, wins against Peru and Germany and a draw last night against Belgium the feeling is the Dutch have turned a corner
In Bergwijn, De Jong, De Beek, De Ligt, Kluivert,Groeneveld et al have indeed the Oranje found their next wave to rival the last great wave of RVP, Robben, VDV, Sneijder etc?

Still some areas look stronger than others and kudos to Koeman for not only turning the team around but his career

I`ll copy and paste this one as it`s a better read than my ramblings:

Ajax-Rebirth of a Dutch Giant

Even a mere cursory glance back through footballing history will highlight the importance that AFC Ajax have had upon the game. Rinus Michels and Johan Cruyff helped to revolutionise the standard of playing with their iconic Total Football system, shaping not just Ajax and the Netherlands national side, but Barcelona, Guardiola and countless more as well. The most iconic aspect of the Dutch giants is their fabled youth academy system, one which has produced countless stars.

Johan Cruyff, Marco van Basten, Dennis Bergkamp, Frank and Ronald de Boer, Frank Rijkaard, Edgar Davids, Patrick Kluivert, Edwin van der Sar, Clarence Seedorf, Toby Alderweireld, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen. These are just a small selection of the notable names to have been produced by the Ajax youth system across the years and they represent some of the stars of European football, past and present.

Since the Champions League triumph of 1994/95, with the increasing influence of financial resources and the dominance of a select few leagues on the continental stage, Ajax have fallen away from the pinnacle of European football. There has been a continued production of young players, but they are regularly poached by the bigger clubs and it is rare that players remain in Amsterdam for more than a few seasons after been given an opportunity in the first team.

Ajax have failed to win the Eredivisie – the top Dutch league – since 2013/14, and this season is their first appearance in the Champions League group stage since 2014/15. For such a storied football club, this is an almost unprecedented lean spell. Yet, there is optimism on the banks of the Amsterdam canals for this season, and a belief that Ajax, whilst perhaps never returning to the top step of Europe, may at least be returning closer to their former strength.

The Champions League will always be the proving ground for European clubs. If you reside in a nation that is not England, Italy, Germany or Spain, your success is instantly diminished because you play in a weak league. Whilst this statement may be untrue, it is prominent throughout football. For the young Ajax team, what better way to earn their stripes than a trip to Munich to face German powerhouse Bayern. A 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena is a good result for any team, but for a young team attempting to prove itself, it is a remarkable one. One which highlights the growing quality of the current generation of Ajax stars.

Of the 13 players who appeared on the pitch during the match, only four – Nicolás Tagliafico, Lasse Schöne, Daley Blind and Dušan Tadić – were older than 25. Many of the stars of the current generation of prospects for the club have already been touted for moves away and, in the case of one, reinventing the way in which football is played.

André Onana, the 22-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper, has seen his name linked with Olympique Marseille as the long-term replacement for Steve Mandanda. Matthijs de Ligt, the 19-year-old Dutch central defender who already has 67 appearances for the Ajax first team, has attracted attention from European elite Barcelona and Juventus and most strongly from Tottenham who wish to reunite him with former teammate Davinson Sanchez.

Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech performed well for Ajax and at the recent World Cup and gained the interest of Champions League finalists and semi-finalists Liverpool and Roma. Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea, with Maurizio Sarri viewing the 21-year-old as the perfect permanent solution in his midfield three.

David Neres has earned some whispers of comparisons with once Ajax forward Luis Suárez and has seen Roma and Borussia Dortmund express their interest in bringing him from the Dutch capital. Although last season was not as productive for striker Kasper Dolberg – 9 in 30 in all competitions in 2017/18 compared to 23 in 47 in 2016/17 – he has still attracted interest from two of Europe’s most storied clubs in Barcelona and Manchester United.

These are just the leading young players who featured during the match against Bayern Munich. The one who is gathering the most hype was not even part of the matchday squad. Having recently made his debut for the Netherlands against Peru and France and drawn comparisons to Sergio Busquets and Franz Beckenbauer, Frenkie de Jong appears destined for the very top of the game.

With the ability and technique to play as a central midfielder, defensive midfielder or even as a progressive central defender, hence the Beckenbauer comparisons, de Jong has starred for the resurgent Ajax so far, making 6 starts so far this season. His performances have drawn the eyes of all of Europe’s football clubs, with Barcelona, Manchester City and Bayern Munich all strongly linked with a move for the 21-year-old.
Ajax are currently second place in the Eredivisie, trailing Mark van Bommel’s perfect PSV side by five points, but there is still a renewed optimism. There are positive signs of progress amongst the new generation of players, even after losing Justin Kluivert to Roma, and the draw in Bavaria highlights the return of Ajax to a competitive level.

Ajax are one of the most historic football clubs in Europe and have always been synonymous with success. Struggles like the recent years have been rare since the days of Rinus Michels, and the current squad, for however long they remain in Amsterdam, are certainly progressing the right way in order to continue their proud legacy.

Oh a win for PSV! Yes another win stoked up for top of the league PSV Eindhoven who made easy work of FC Emmen in a 6-0 victory, PSV play Tottenham midweek with both teams badly needing a win

Second place Ajax beat Herenveen 4-0 and third place Feyenoord beat PEC Zwolle with goals from on loan Jordie Clasie, Nicolai Jorgnsen(Once highly courted by Newcastle) and former Watford winger Steven Berghuis. They now face Benfica in the European cup midweek

Heracles Almelo continue to defy the odds with a 4-1 win over Groningen to stay in fourth whilst VVV Venlo move upto fifth with a 2-0 victory over Den Haag the second goal coming from on loan Leeds United striker Kay Roy Grot

Impressive underdogs Excelsior Rotterdam (Who remembers when David Connolly played for them?) got a great victory over Vitesse Arnhem

In a battle of those bubbling under the top, FC Utrecht beat AZ Alkmaar 2-1 , TBH i`m disappointed with AZ this year thus far I`d expected them to have fourth place or challenging third, the club have a great conveyor belt of talent, a good manager and currently whilst they are fifth its not without dropped points

With this weeks big transfer spec as usual being Man City or Barcelona ready to splash 70M on Frenkie De Jong, its also Citeh, United and Tottenham apparently ready to splash 45M on Bournemouth`s Nathan Ake

A 1-0 win over Benfica leaves Ajax almost there in qualifying for the knockout rounds for the first time in many a year

Didn't see PSV at home last night but it looks as though they rode their luck terribly given the possession stats in a 2-2 draw, love how Tottenham play for me they have a superb team and can easily match Barca, Juve, Bayern, Real etc and somehow lose

The legend that is Robin Van Persie is due to retire at the end of the season, the 35 year old has had very much a career renaissance at Feyenoord after a mixed spell at Fenerbache. RVP reignited his career dropping deeper like his predecessor Dirk Kuyt more a withdrawn forward than a number ten, scoring goals but bringing others into the game more, a great Captain for the side and will be a huge loss to Feyenoord.

PSV Eindhoven continue winning ways in the Dutch league by defeating Groningen 2-1, however the unbroken Dutch streak has been broken with them being knocked out the KNVB cup 2nd round by RKC Waalwijk
Bad news also for their former manager Phillip Cocu who has been sacked by SK Fenerbache with the club in 14th place, promising coach not sure what has gone wrong there

Easy victory in Der Klassiker as Ajax in 2nd place beat third place Feyenoord 3-0 after being reduced to ten men after just six minutes

Fourth place Hercules Almemlo earned a point in a 1-1 draw with PEC Zwolle

Dick Advocaat`s Utrecht side continued good form with a win over Willem II whilst bad form continued for AZ Alkmaar losing to Heerenveen

This weeks transfer merry go round naturally has FDJ involved, perennial Dutch associators AS Roma want another Ajax player(!) in Donny Van de Beek, Ajax and Cameroon goalie Andre Onana might be a safer pair of hands than Tottenhams`s Hugo Lloris and again it`s selling time for Ajax left backs as Argentine international Nicolas Tagliafico is the subject of Arsenal bid`s (And I dont believe Newcastle United!)

Well nothing too much to talk about so I`ll play the clog wearing Mark Lawrenson with some predictions

Friday 2nd November

Excelsior v Groningen 1-1

Groningen to actually stop losing and gain a point here

Saturday 3rd November

PSV v Vitesse 3-1

Vitesse are playing well but PSV are playing awesomely in the league, I cant imagine they will drop points when they have so many players in form

NAC Breda v Heracles 2-2

I fancy NAC who are bottom to get a point here against high flying Hercules

AZ v De Graafschap 2-0

AZ to start improving, De Graafscahp always been a bogey team

Ajax v Willem II 3-0

Willem are a good side but Ajax cannot stop scoring no matter if it`s Neres, Dolberg or Huntleaar up front

Sunday 4th November

Heerenveen v Emmen 1-0
Both are playing well this year but I fancy the more experienced Heerenveen
Fortuna Sittard v PEC Zwolle

Utrecht v ADO Den Haag 3-0
Advocaat to get fourth win in a row!

Feyenoord v VVV-Venlo 3-1
A return to form after last week, Expecting RVP and Jorensen both on the score sheet

With the January Transfer window due to open rumors are aplenty with plenty of names being banded about and clubs involved

* De Ligt and De Jong has been all over the rags for months, it really is a no brainer, PSG, Barvelona and Man City lead the way

* Mexican Winger Hirving Lozano at PSV would be a great acquisition for anyone, he`s been linked with Barca, Man utd and Everton

*Similarly the other PSV winger Steven Bergwijn is another great young player and linked with Everton

*Left back Jetro Williams of Eintracht Frankfurt been linked with Newcastle United, cant see it

* Vincent Janssen of Spurs was once once thought the next RVN, great attitude but a move seem`s likely with even Huddersfield town linked

* Right back Kenny Tete of Lyon is playing second fiddle to Rafael, still makes the Dutch squads, AC Milan among the suitors

* Ryan Babel soon out of contract with Besiktas is being hunted by many Italian clubs most noticeably Fiorentina

*Surprisingly hasnt moved before, Feyenoord`s Tony Vilhenna linked with a few Serie A clubs

* Patrick van Aanholt hard to believe regularly is mentioned as a target for Juventus and the Spanish big two!

*Luciano Narsingh hasnt had a great time at Swansea, look for return to Holland or more likely Belgium

Despite the last gap win that knocked them out of the CL Ajax managed a convincing league and cup double, sadly this side will typically not stay together too long with De Jong already off and the likes of Ziyech, Van de Beek and De Ligt most possibly soon too follow
The club have already signed four players and several others including Odegaard of Real Madrid and Hagi`s son are heavily mooted

PSV Eindhoven with such an amazingly strong start were as usual strong contenders, again a team that could easily ripped apart this summer, most sensational rumor has Bergwijn joining Ajax! Certainly him, Luuk de Jong, Hirving Lozano and the out of contract next year Pereiro could move on

Quite a way back in third are Feyenoord, saying goodbye to Gio Van Bronckhorst and ready for Jaap Stam next year, RVP has now retired but the squad is need of both new blood and new stars

AZ Alkmaar in fourth again had a good season, John ten Brom will take over at Utrecht and AZ will probably lose their star performers again

Twente Eschende are promoted back to teh top flight at the first time of asking sacking their manager afterwards(!) Thankfully Steve McClaren wasn't asked back

I love this video of Ajax celebrating their League and Cup double by inviting the father and brother of Abdelhak Nouri to celebrate it with them.
