Good on Spain for doing that. He didn’t notify his bosses about he negotiations and agreement until shortly before the Real Madrid announcement. That is very unprofessional and he deserved the sack.

The big question now is who do they replace him with? Do they promote the under 21 Head Coach or do they look externally at someone available like Michel who has been linked already?

As for the 2026 World Cup, the US, Canada and Mexico seems to be a better choice than Morocco but with how big the three countries are, that is going to be a lot of travelling to teams and fans. Although by 2026 it could be a 50 team tournament.

Everybody's blaming Madrid's president Florentino Perez over here. He got nervous after Zidane sprung the surprise on them ...couldn't get Pochettino or Joachim Low in immediately, looked like he made the wrong decision and now everybody's going to be blaming him for it when Spain get knocked out.

Unless they win it that is...

Fernando Hierro it is then. Didn’t set the World alight when he was at Real Oviedo in the 2016/2017 season and they missed out on the play-offs but being Technical Manager means he knows the players and what Lopotegui wanted to to do with them.

I still think they’ll reach the semi-final at least but it’s going to tougher now.

Josh, I know he has announced his retirement but I'm sure if they asked him nicely, very nicely, Alan Pardew would take on the role ......
