Just back from ER and Hibs clearly a different team compared with what happened in the UECL 1st leg in Andorra. Our talismanic striker, Boyly, resoundingly welcomed back by Hibs supporters before the match started and he repaid the praise by scoring the first two goals to calm things down and Hibs gelling together as a team and probing the weaknesses in Inter's defence; Doidgy having a fine performance and scoring a decent third goal. The sixth goal by Youann was certainly my "pick of the bunch" and it was a good all round performance by Hibs tonight. Also good to see Fish slotted in beside Paul Hanlon to solidify our defence. And Max Boruc surely never expected to be "between the sticks" after Marshall's pre-match injury and then Wollacott's demise in the 1st half! He played well! So Hibs qualify on a 7-3 aggregate score.
However, the fun begins as Hibs prepare to face Swiss footie league opponents, Luzern, who will be no pushover in the 3rd and final quali round 1st leg next Thursday night. One has to ponder what kinda Hibs line-up Johnson will choose for Sunday's PL match v St Mirren? Compromise prevailing with a view to resting key players for a huge challenge next Thursday night and the following Thursday in Switzerland?
