Prediction League Results/Tables Week 32

Well as we approach the run in for the last few weeks of predictions we certainly can’t accuse anyone of putting on their flip-flops and heading for the beach!!! Double figures reached by every player, even though no one got any points on the Gamball!!!! A stellar set of predictions from top to bottom this week!!

Leading the pack for the second week on the trot is Beefy, he has firmly put himself in the Zinman Camp of not playing the Gamball and while that is inching him closer to the leader I fear he will need to gamble a bit on the Gamball to make up any real ground!! He got a spot on Bonus and scored on 7 games but stalking him once again not far behind we find Zinman in 2nd spot on 18 points. Zinman too scored on 7 of the games so yet another solid scoring week for the leagues most consistent predictor!! In third place is Lord Snooty, probably too little too late but he is playing for pride and doing it very well, scoring 17 points!!

Sanjay comes in 4th on 16 points, courtesy of a CR on the Bonus and one of 7 players to pick up the extra point on the Scoreball. Derby finished 5th on 15 points which included 6 scoring games including the Bonus. Next comes a trio of players on 13 points, each with slightly different overall aspirations. BBB got a spot on Bonus but missed his other balls and his push to try to catch the leaders may still be alive but has taken a hit this week. SCO probably has now seen his title chase end this week even though he scored the most Correct Results with 7. And the third of the 13 point trio is Amelia, staring relegation in the face this result was solid but not likely to be enough to save her!!

The bottom 2 this week both finished on 10 points, both scoring points on at least half the games but both missing the Gamball and Scoreball. Looks like midtable for Matt but the playoffs loom large for Worldclass

Cheers
SCO

Zinman has seen his lead at the top clipped from 18, to 16, to 13 this week. At that rate he’s not going to be caught with the number of weeks left, but there can be no complacency as Beefy looks set to keep the pressure on right to the last week returning a 20+ week again. It’s surely no coincidence that our top 2 are also the lowest predictors of the Gamball, I can see a Summer of changes to it again just around the corner.

BBB maintains 3rd thanks to a super Sunday but will need a couple of above average weeks if he has any intentions of staging a late challenge to the top 2 and even more so for SCO who’s looking like he’ll have to settle for a top 4 spot, though he has got another distraction to soften that blow if you read the Cup thread.

Only 4 points cover the next 3 positions and they seem to change on a weekly basis. Sanjay is the one to hold 5th this week climbing a place above Derby by just a solitary point, while Matt is only another 4 points back in 7th. If these 3 positions were in the Premier League they’d be worth millions, but in our Prediction league it’s all about bragging rights and pride.

Worldclass will almost certainly be extending his season as he’ll predict to try and save his Premiership status as he sits in isolation in the relegation play-off spot 32 points away from safety and 32 away from our bottom 2.

Amelia and Snooty are looking for a major miracle and are sadly “as good as down” with so few weeks left and so many points casting them adrift at the bottom, it’s time to start preparing for life in the Championship next season.

Last week only one player managed to get double figures - this week everyone did! Only one fixture proved difficult to predict but, as it was Beefy's selection for the gamball, it did cost a few players vital promotion points. Unusually we have a full set of correct bonus balls spread across a range of selected games - Beefy went far too gentle in his choices this week.

So, on Masters weekend - did I ever mention that I once played Augusta?- this week's green jacket goes to.......(quick double check by a confused scorer)....Joker. Yes, Joker. The last person to post his predictions - I have rechecked and they were on time - Joker was the only person to score on the Gamball and with a week's high of 2 correct scores heads the table with 22 points. Quantum maintained his march to promotion with an incredible 9 correct result predictions. The only match he got wrong was the gamball but as he didn't play it it really didn't cost him. Could he be edging his way to the Championship title? Third place goes to Bomber - several week's of decent scoring for him but surely the best he can hope for is a play off spot, just like the Baggies.

15 points was enough to secure him the top spot last week, but Stairs has to settle for mid-table joined on that score by 4eva and Baggieone. Twerton falls just a point further back but is kept off bottom place by long time Championship leader Themaclad, though with 13 points his chances of promotion won't have been damaged too much.

Nearly there guys - thanks for sticking with this for so long.

Now, back to my Augusta round.......

No positional changes to report and with only 9 points between the best and worst score you can see why. However, 7 of those points were between our 2 runaway leaders in this weeks scores who are now set to fight it out for the title and promotion as champions. Themaclad clings onto top spot, a position he has held for all 32 weeks, but by the smallest of margins as just a solitary point back, Quantum is closing in to take over.

Bomber strengthened his grip on the promotion play-off spot in 3rd and holds a healthy, thought not unassailable, 20 point cushion over the pack headed by Twerton who is still close enough with, by my calculations, 3 maybe 4 weeks left of the season.

7 points back to Stairs who needs the 2 above him to falter if he is to mount an unlikely late charge towards that 3rd spot, as does 4eva who’s another 4 points further back, 30 odd points away from that last chance saloon play-off spot.

BaggieOne is playing for pride and unlikely to move up or down from 7th spot, while Joker certainly still has his pride well and truly intact as he turned in an impressive week  to be just 3 points shy of his double ton.
