Do we have a lazy manager or are we a lazy club? - Devongone - 02-07-2019

So having signed a thuggish drinking partner, who is almost too old to play a game he was never particularly good at anyway, a skilled known tippler released by Doncaster, the son of an agent on the verge of gaol rather than goal who was loaned to us last season and did precious little and a player released by his club who performed fairly well for us on loan and rang him up the moment he was free ...... should we be surprised our manager is now discovering his own son at the breakfast table and a relative of Paul Scholes who obviously isn't good enough to interest Salford? He never ceases his search for talent does he, even in the furthest flung reaches of his own home? You have to admire him don't you? If only for his ability to wash up at clubs equally prepared to do the minimum possible?

I suppose Gerrard was my give-up moment, but the last couple of days have convinced me that looking at young-ish non-league talent in reports and online is only ever going to depress me. It was bad enough that Dagenham were able to recruit Brundle from Dover to firm up their charge back to the EFL when it should have been obvious to us and everyone else that a key player was available, BUT now Dover themselves have been able to recruit Nassim L'Ghoul who will probably destroy us out wide, Tshimanga from Oxford City has been snapped up by Boreham Wood, whilst we were less than busy getting McKay "over the line" ...... and Corey Whiteley, who I advocated both at Dagenham and Ebbsfleet as a goalscoring midfielder, has grabbed the chance to try the EFL with Newport who don't really splash the cash. Kosylo's at Fylde and French went to Bradford, Hare went to Bristol Rovers, Goodship sailed into Southend ........ whilst we? Maybe, there's a player down the back of Sheri's settee with the pound coins and unidentifiable fluff?

If the excuse for activity meant that Amantchi would be in our 16 each week, or that Lee Shaw would be the goalscorer he was before we got our hands on him I wouldn't mind. But our horizons seem to stretch no further than a local bloat of a goalkeeping coach who used to drop crosses for fun. Our keeper is 36, has Crossley got a set of jump leads, or is he there as another yes man to sit in the bar nodding?

If Sheridan gets his way Crossley will probably be between the sticks showing the other keepers how it should be done. I can remember not so long ago deciding at the last minute on a Saturday morning to drive down to Torquay for our game. Got there just before ko, Crossley was in goal whilst Tommy Lee was sat on the bench. Either JS was still pissed from the night before and wrote the wrong name on the team sheet or he couldnt write and just put "X Lee" which was interpreted as Crossley. That was just 1 of the many weird and wonderful things that put me off JS's managerial skills.

I don't think Crossley will be playing. We've got Jalal and Coddington as keepers.

Never mind Matt.

And now we let Stevenage have our best midfielder.

What a shower.

STEVENAGE ...... when the big clubs come in ...........

Now we see how Weir fits into the picture, we're getting rid of all the players better than him!
