Saint Johnstone v Hibs, Sun 12 August, KO 3.00pm - 0762 - 10-08-2018

First and foremost, we wanna earn the 3 pts in this 2nd league match of the season. But what team will Lenny choose? I'm guessing he'll wanna rest a few players preceding that massive Euro confrontation in Norway next Thursday. I reckon Efe will rest the shoulder injury he picked up v Molde and David Gray may well be withdrawn due to injury as well as McGregor who will be out for a while. Laidlaw will be Hibs likely goalie and Whittaker may well slot in as Hibs RB. Kamberi could be rested and Shaw given another opp to start and see how he gets on. Who plays up front alongside him? Possibly Andy McLaren? We may also see Agyepong playing in this match at some point. C'mon Hibs!

Celtic surprisingly lose at Tynecastle - Rodgers choice of a poor Celtic line up preceding a massive Euro tie finally "bites him on the bum". A flat Celtic mid display with notable changes while John McGinn getting rave reviews at Villa Park! Rodgers leaving the club if they fail in Greece and not enamoured with the Celtic board!?
So Hibs have a chance of "topping" the Scot Premiership tomorrow night. Lets grab that chance so early in the season and no "banana skin" please Hibs!

Picking up on your last point, 0762, we only got 2 points out of 9 against St Johnstone last season. Must do better.

It's the same dilemna as rodgers had really, getting through in norway would be great but is it worth risking the result at perth ?

Mcginn is comfortably better than the likes of kouassi and hayes. Rodgers is right to be pissed off that lawwell didn't make it happen.

I'm expecting Neil to play Horgan and Agyepong tomorrow and rest quite a few players much like Rodgers did today. For me a good Hibs result will be based on a solid defence, secure midfield and we have the forwards to win this match and improve on last season's "poor show" v Saint Johnstone.

Todays team:

Laidlaw, Ambrose, Porteous, Hanlon, Boyle, Whittaker, Mallan, Hyndman, Stevenson, Shaw, Maclaren.

Subs - Dabrowski, Gray, Bartley, Horgan, Slivka, Swanson, Kamberi.

So Hyndman given a midfield "start" - not sure re his status in Hibs 1st team after a brief view of him v Molde! Whittaker covering for injured David Gray as predicted and Shaw paired with McLaren as expected. Looks like Horgan will be brought on at some stage of this game. C'mon Hibs and extend our long, unbeaten run in the process!

FT 1-1 and I'd say a fair result in a fast moving, entertaining, open match although the Porteous og was terribly unlucky in deflecting a shot by Tony Watt that was going nowhere! How annoying! But Hibs quickly regrouped and very unlucky not to be level before HT and Shaw "delivering" with a headed goal shortly after HT. Not the best result but I'll take it and Hibs long, unbeaten run still remains intact! Well done! We move on to a big challenge in Norway.

RE: Saint Johnstone v Hibs, Sun 12 August, KO 3.00pm - 1Wattie - 12-08-2018

St Johnstone are becoming a bit of a bogey team to us and it could be argued that our results against them last season could have cost us third or even second place in the SPFL. All water under the bridge now so we need to concentrate on our second leg tie on Thursday night. The positive thing is a scoring draw takes us through to the next stage.

Molde winning 5-1 tonight v Brann with their star teenage striker, Erling Braut Haland, returning to play in this game after missing the Hibs match - gotta watch out for this lad (one pk goal and two "assists") if he plays against us on Thursday although Heste looks more of a threat - scored a "hat trick" v Glenavon in the previous round.
