The relegation circus rolls on this weekend with a visit to the south coast, and against all odds, Alan Pardew will still be the ringmaster. Having a manager that wants to leave but won't resign and a board that wants him out but won't sack him is, to be honest, a farce that would put 1990s Albion to shame; but then, what would football be without a bit of nostalgia every now and then?

It'd be nice to think that before he takes his inevitable leave, Alan would rally the troops enough to put a few more points on the board and beat our previous lowest tally, but neither he nor the players have shown any threat or inclination to do so in recent weeks. In which case, Bournemouth, it's over to you. Show us a bit of charity, eh? God knows we've done it for enough teams through the years...

Ska'd, I admire your optimism, but can you really see pardew playing the youth, that team is far to young, to quick, to attacking and another thing, the likes of Chaplin, Morecambe, wise and the whole back four are more mobile than Livermore...... and their dead.

Your team selection is inspirational, however I must point out a small but important technical consideration that may have escaped your attention. A somewhat obscure rule of the Football Association states that “teams will not field dead players”. This rule was added after the somewhat notorious game played in 1897 between Bootil Rovers and Knotvery Athletic when the referee discovery a number of “players” were in fact deceased and in various states of decomposition on the pitch. The ref’s attention was first drawn to this when a static back two failed to move to defend a thro ball and seemed only inclined to lean on each other in a drunken manner. The trainer then appeared with a horse blanket and after much rolling of eyes the two mentioned were “taken away”. A little later a forward was persistently whistled for standing offside but on closer examination found to be, as it
was delicately put, “unable to hear the whistle”. The game was abandoned and due to the
excess of sportsmanship prevalent at that time, awarded to the depleted team.

To be fair, guys, I was going to stick Hale & Pace in, before I remembered we never bother with Pace in our team Rolleyes

To be fair, Ska'd charity may not be enough, I'll nave to be the Vicar and a whole lot of other vicars saying a word with you know who - though have gone for a double - 1-0 for the was almighty Albion.

Lawro has finally given up on us as well that’s as good a result as we will get this weekend. I noticed on the official webpage that wba blind team has won their league title. It’s almost perverse irony but one of those brave lads said they stick together in defeat and victory and are a very close family. Maybe some of our 1st team prima donnas should get some tips off these lads and start eating some half time humble pie and donate their wages from now until they actually win a game to the cause of the disadvantaged who have provided some pride in the wba cause.
