Bobby Hope - silverbaggie - 11-10-2014

I've probably, in the past, made no secret of the fact that Bobby is my favourite player of all time.

This when the likes of 'The King' and 'The Bomber' and 'Chippy' were all playing and rightly gaining most of the attention.

Bobby was the midfield General and a superb passer of the ball whose only international recognition was two miserly caps for his Country: Scotland.

I was wondering what had happened to this great Albion icon.

Wikipedia still seems to indicate that he is still scouting for the Albion but, I thought that he had been released/replaced some years ago.

Anyone know where he is now??

Yeh, remember him well too - superb passer and great natural control.
I thought he was still at the club too?

Last i heard he was pretty poorly, hope he's o'k though.Great passer of the ball.I will always remember travelling down to the '68 cup final,we were following a coach down to Wembley and on the back was a banner, what did it say "Everton haven't got a B.Hope" thought was great.

Silver, although Jeff Astle, Derek Kevan & Bomber were perhaps my first favourites in Bobby Hope's time, he was definitely up there with those two but hey, the whole team were my favourites !

I remember Bobby Hope requesting a transfer around the time of the 1968 cup win and him sitting on an open topped bus when they returned to Birmingham New Street and me shouting to him "Don't leave us Bobby"  to which he smiled and of course, he didn't leave the club.  A great visionary player with great passing ability. Without Bobby Hope, Jeff Astle and Bomber wouldn't have been as good as they were.  Interesting article in the E&S Smartass

Thanks for that Baggieman.

So Bobby is still involved although only on a part time basis.

Wish I could have met him!

He was in the Wednesday team when I started going regularly to games in the mid 70's. Played 43 times for us, scoring 9 goals. Can't honestly say I remember much about him playing for us but I knew the name when I saw the thread!!
