Barnsley have signed defender Kacper Lopata on a four-year deal following his short spell with National League side Woking.
The 21-year-old came through Brighton's academy before joining Sheffield United in 2020 and later Southend United.
Lopata left the Shrimpers midway through this season and joined Woking until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
"[Barnsley] has a great history of developing players and I thought I could do just that here," he said.
Chief executive Khaled El-Ahmad added to the club website: "We are pleased to be able to have signed Kacper on a long-term deal. He is a young player whose development we look forward to seeing at Oakwell."
Despite his short time with Woking, Poland Under-21 international Lopata helped the Cards to a fourth-placed finish in the National League.

League One side Barnsley have signed former Hartlepool goalkeeper Ben Killip on a two-year deal.
The 27-year-old made 133 league appearances in four seasons with Pools but turned down a new deal after they were relegated back to the National League last season.
The Reds start the new campaign at home to Port Vale on Saturday, 5 August.
"It's a massive club and they had an amazing season last season," Killip told the Tykes' website.
Barnsley finished fourth in the table last season but lost to South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off final.

Barnsley head coach Neill Collins has appointed former Notts County striker Jon Stead and former Tykes midfielder Martin Devaney as his assistants.
The 39-year-old took over at Oakwell on Thursday after four years in charge of Tampa Bay Rowdies in the United States.
Collins replaced Michael Duff, who left to take over at Swansea City in June.
"We are now excited to progress with Neill and Jon working with the strong backroom staff we currently have at Oakwell," CEO Khaled El-Ahmad said.
"His [Stead's] relationship with Neill is important as the staff look to settle at the club, whilst having the experience and support of Martin to count on within the mix.
"Furthermore, Jon is a local lad who understands the fabric of the area and the importance of this club to the people of Barnsley."
Huddersfield-born Stead worked with Collins at the Rowdies since the start of last year while Devaney made 174 appearances for the Reds as a player and coached at the Tykes academy in 2015.
Devaney went on to become first-team coach last term and steps up to assist Collins upon his return to England.

The English Football League has charged Barnsley with multiple breaches of their regulations.
The charges relate to the period the League One club was under the ownership of Paul Conway and Chien Lee between 2017 and 2022.
The Tykes said the charges "are the result of an investigation initiated by the club" and that they have fully co-operated with the EFL.
Conway, Lee and the club have 14 days to respond.
Barnsley have been charged with the following:
Failing to provide the League with correct and/or complete information regarding the beneficial ownership of shares in the club despite a request for such information being made by the League.
Failing to provide the League with the necessary notifications regarding the ownership position at the club.
Failing to publish accurate information on the club's website concerning the ultimate owners of the significant interest in the club.
Allowing individuals to acquire a position of control without prior clearance from the EFL.
Failing to act towards the League with the utmost good faith.
In addition, Conway and Lee have also been charged with causing the club to be in breach of EFL regulations.

Middlesbrough have loaned goalkeeper Liam Roberts to Barnsley for the forthcoming League One season.
The 28-year-old joined Boro from Northampton in June 2022, and played back-up to Manchester City loanee Zack Steffen last season.
Before his move to Teesside, Roberts was a regular at both Walsall and the Cobblers, playing 218 senior games.
"He is a player who has experience of playing and excelling in the EFL," chief executive Khaled El-Ahmad said.
The Tykes lost Brad Collins to Coventry City for an undisclosed fee, but did sign ex-Hartlepool United goalkeeper Ben Killip earlier this month.

Barnsley have signed strikers Max Watters and Andrew Dallas on three-year deals.
Watters, 24, ended last season on loan at the Tykes, scoring four goals in 19 league appearances, and has joined for an undisclosed fee from Cardiff.
Scot Dallas, 24, scored 32 goals in 77 National League games for the Moors and ended 2022-23 on loan at Chesterfield.
"I'm buzzing to finally be in the door and to get to work straight away," Dallas told the club website.
He joins League One Barnsley on a free transfer, after his deal with Solihull expired.

Barnsley have signed full-back Corey O'Keeffe from League Two club Forest Green Rovers for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old made 50 appearances in 2022-23, including a 2-0 defeat at Oakwell last October, as Forest Green were relegated from League One.
O'Keefe began his career at Birmingham City and has also had spells with Mansfield Town and Rochdale.
He has agreed a four-year deal at Oakwell and is Barnsley's sixth signing of the summer transfer window.
"I'm ready to help the team go one step further this season and get promotion," the Irishman, who can also play in midfield, told the club website.
Following last season's League One play-off final defeat at Wembley by Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley start the new campaign with a home game against Port Vale on 5 August.

Barnsley have signed French centre-back Mael de Gevigney from Nimes Olympique for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with the Tykes, with the club having an option for an extra year.
He joined Nimes after captaining Versailles to the fourth-tier title in 2019 and played 31 games last season.
A rule change allowing up to four overseas players to sign without passing the points system for visas, has enabled the move.
Barnsley chief executive Khaled El-Ahmad said: "The change in transfer regulations around EU players meant we can explore different avenues when looking to strengthen the squad and allowed us to find Maël."
De Gevigney said: "It's a country [England] that I've watched a lot since I was young. I like this kind of football, so when I got this opportunity to come to this country, I was really happy."

Luton Town have loaned forward John McAtee to League One side Barnsley for the remainder of the season.
The 24-year-old joins Neill Collins' side following his parent club's promotion to the Premier League.
He spent last season back on loan at former club Grimsby Town, scoring four goals in 31 games and helping them reach the last eight of the FA Cup.
He had joined Luton from Grimsby in August 2022 following spells at Shrewsbury and Scunthorpe.
Namesake father John played rugby league for St Helens, as did other members of his extended family, while he and brother James - who is with Manchester City - opted for football.
Barnsley are currently 15th in the third tier after four games.

Barnsley have signed Rotherham United defender Jamie McCart on a season-long loan deal.
The 26-year-old Scot joined the Millers from St Johnstone in July 2022 but has only made one league start for the Championship side.
He ended last season on loan at Leyton Orient and played eight times as they won the League Two title.
McCart could make his debut for Neill Collins' side in Saturday's trip to Cheltenham.
