Sheff Weds 2014-15 - The First Half - St Charles Owl - 03-09-2014

Continuing the catch all thread theme. Please post anything related to the season so far on here, transfers, rumors, club statements etc etc. Of course there is nothing to stop anyone from setting up a new thread for a single subject if you feel it is warranted!!

Our Attey wins POTM, no great surprise really his workrate and commitment to the cause is second to none, plus he's found his shooting boots at last so I think he deserves it, however, the likes of Mattock, Lees and Coke were up there too so I guess it was a close call Thumb up

Well deserved. I voted for Lees

Never trusted him.

Onwards and upwards.

Oh right...anyway, moving on...

Seriously though I'm glad it didn't go through, he made The Krays look legitimate. Dodgy

Whilst we are not cash rich, we are comfortable, have a great...if somewhat thin squad and had a great start to the season and MM has rightly called it off as not to distract anyone within and outside the club regarding the takeover. It has to be fair, been a fiasco and I don't blame MM for any of this, HM's people and the French press leaked it all and MM had no choice but to go along with it.

C'mon Carlos Slim, you can make your move now Wink

Clearly scared of the massive Imre

The top tier of the stand we'll be in is closed, if we need it they'll possibly open it

Now that Mamma has left the building it might just be what we need as his recent involvement however temporary will certainly have put the club's name about. Maybe the next investor might really be interesting.
Cool

The frustrating thing for me is that we are only a couple of quality signings away from having a genuine chance of going up. I reckon 3 or 4m pounds would do it.

But from MM's point of view, if he spends that money and we don't go up he's 4m down and back I square one.

I agree that potentially if we perform up to our capabilities we are not that far off a potential playoff push. Problem is spending that extra 3-4m plus wages and bonuses etc, will likely push us over the FFP limits. Now I know that it seems other clubs are ignoring these rules but at some point punishments will be handed down, starting with a transfer embargo, and I would rather we keep within these limits if we can. Of course a nice stay near the top of the table will help to improve attendances but it would probably take a consistent additional 3-5k fans at home games to improve the revenues enough to allow that sort of spending.
