Aberdeen v Hibs, Fri 9 Nov, KO 7.45pm
Posted by: 0762 - 06-11-2018, 18:56 - Forum: Hibernian - Replies (7)

We play another team that has again "hit some fine form" and good results just like our previous opponents, Saint Johnstone. I think we will lose this match and we are on the "verge" of a shit period of crap results that could be difficult to overcome - deja vu and I can recall previous bad memories of this situation in seasons gone by! Kamberi will thankfully return to play in this Friday night away match and I'm just wondering how Lenny will tackle this match. I don't actually rate the Dons that highly but they are "grinding out" results due to solid defending and a strong focus on not losing goals. I'd love to see Hibs "play them off the park" again, just like the BF Cup QF at ER, but win the match this time. However, I can't see that happening esp bearing in mind Hibs dreadful historical league record v this footie club.

Well "crunch time" is looming ever closer and this is a chance for Celtic to "take the bull by the horns" (pardon the pun!) and impose themselves on this group and have a "sniff" at qualifying for the next stage. This is a decent Bundesligue side but I still think the Hoops could win it on the night if they "show up". From a domestic perspective, I think many Celtic fans would rather see the Hoops eliminated and just "push on" with their fine domestic form. However, that is not how it works for big footie clubs like Celtic.

Ecky's Scotland squad announced for the final NL group matches!
Posted by: 0762 - 06-11-2018, 16:12 - Forum: International Matches - Replies (1)

And no Griffiths, no Soutar, no Naismith!

So our quali hopes depend on these players:-

Gordon, McGregor, McLaughlin, Devlin, McKenna, Mulgrew, O'Donnell, Robertson, Shinnie, Tierney, Armstrong, Christie, Forrest, Fraser, GMS, McDonald, McGinn, C McGregor, Paterson, Fletcher, McBurnie, Phillips, Russell

We need some positivity v Albania and my team to win would be:-

Gordon
Tierney McKenna Mulgrew Robertson
C McGregor
Forrest Armstrong Shinnie/McGinn Fraser
Fletcher

Our main weakness is that we don't score enough goals and that is why I don't think we'll win this match and also why I feel this defence will be hopefully the most solid that Ecky can choose - stop leaking daft goals please!

Astle

to me those guys were Albion Legends(feel free to add your own)

Big Dave cannot be classed anywhere near those i`ve mentioned
so lets put that to bed
he was at best an average defender
as a manager i`m sorry to say this
he aint one
i would love him to succeed but i cant see it

i`m not anti BD
but i think we need a change....sooner the better
if he can`t see that the formation he plays aint working then a manager he aint

any manager worth his salt will figure out that certain formations dont work
yet he dont

we have had some shite managers in the past
would had to add Dave to that list
but as it stands he is heading down that road

sorry just my opinion

so good old James Mclean
is being investigated by the F.A
for calling the Stoke fans "uneducated cavemen"
over his (yet) again poppy stance
how can the F.A do this?
we all know Stoke fans are "uneducated cavemen"

LAST MATCH

So we head into the biggest game of the season on the back of a 0-4 scoreline as we capitulated in the second half v Norwich. I thought we did ok first half with Onomah having a couple of efforts going over the bar and Dawson saving a penalty Thumb up  The halftime came and Jos gave them a rousing speech Laugh and we completely caved in. 3 goals in eleven minutes and the game was over and the atmosphere turned toxic. Norwich had further chances but thankfully scored only one more.

THE MATCH

So its the first Steel City Derby of the season as we make the journey across the city to Bumhole Lane. We managed a credible 0-0 draw in Jos's first game in charge back in January. United have had a excellent start to the season and currently are 3rd in the table and will be looking to be in the mix at the end of the season. We seem to be in free-fall at the moment, Jos changing the team week in week out, leaving certain players out and the fans starting to turn, perfect time for a Steel City Derby then Whistle

A historic treble double! Well done Hibs ladies!

Just like the Scotland ladies team, Hibs ladies achieving a bit of footie history by attaining a cup double for the 3rd consecutive season by beating Motherwell ladies team 8-0 at Firhill. Well done!! And it is just a pity that they lost the league to Glasgow City just on the last two "hurdles"! Otherwise it would've been a "treble" achievement for a very good Hibs team.

HTAFC Prediction League 2018/19 Matchday 14
Posted by: Lord Snooty - 05-11-2018, 11:35 - Forum: Huddersfield Town - Replies (16)

2 points for a correct result
4 points for a correct score
2 points for each correct scorer
Correct joker doubles your score   Laugh
Wrong joker result gives you minus 2
Correct Random Badger gives you 2 points Badger

The random badger Badger is used for any random prediction used once in each matchday sequence. For instance, a scorer at a particular match, the number of red cards in the matches or yellow cards or own goals or owt you want really within reason, I do need to be able to check whether it's correct or not. Please don't put stuff like....."Commentator says...."  Rolleyes
The joker  Laugh is played for one match in each sequence and if correct you get double points. So if you've predicted 1-0 and it finishes 2-0, you get 4 pts, but if you've predicted 2-0, that's 8 pts. But if you get it wrong, it's minus 2.
Jokers and badgers are optional. You don't have to play one if you don't want.

Cup games:
In the event of a draw, it's half the points if you've predicted a draw when it gets to 90 mins and the full points if it's still a draw after extra time. Half the points will be awarded for correctly predicting the winner of the match if it goes to penalties.

Random score generator: I will be using the random score generator again for those who miss predicting, so we shouldn't get some people too far behind that after missing a couple of weeks they lose all interest, because I know it's not easy getting on here every week.
To be fair to everybody, this is going to be like, say if three people in one week miss their predictions, the first one in the table will be given all 0-0, the second one down the line will get 1-0 and the third will get 0-1 and so on, like if there's four missing the 4th will get 1-1, then 5th 2-1, 6th 1-2. and if there are so many missing, might as well pack in. Wink
And if you miss two weeks on the trot, I'll stop until you come back on again. Not doing it for half a season like I did last year.  Rolleyes

  Prediction League Results/Tables Week 12
Posted by: bomberbrown1968 - 04-11-2018, 20:04 - Forum: West Bromwich Albion - Replies (38)

A few weeks ago Worldclass achieved the dubious honor of being the first one in the PL to get the absolute minimum score, since then he has I believe been in the top 2 each week!!!  This week he leads the way with a fine 22 points, getting 7 predictions correct in some way with a CS Gamball and CR Bonus ball.  Closely behind him is SCO with 21 points on the back of his two correct scores being the Gamball and BB!!  Derby rounds out the top 3 with 20 points, and rounds out this weeks PL maximum Gamball points winners along with the top 2.

Bit of a gap then down to Zinman with 13 points, Sanjay on 12 and Beefy on 10.  Nothing too remarkable here, Zinman saved points by getting the Gamball wrong but not playing it either, would be interesting to see if this tactic is working for him as he seems to get it wrong when he doesn’t play it and right when he does!! Sanjay picked up points on both balls but little else and Beefy scored a weeks high 6 correct results but no correct scores and missed the Gamball.

The weeks bottom dwellers were BBB with 6 points, Snooty on 5, Amelia on 2 and our PL leader going into this week Matt who would actually have scored 1 more point than he did if he has not bothered predicting at all!!!!  All 4 of these predictors missed on the Gamball and the BB, and as we all know getting nothing from them negates most other things you do!!!

Could be some movement in the table this week due to the 22 point gap between 1st and last, and especially with the leader having a mare, we await the posting of the table from Bomber!!

Cheers
SCO

It’s taken eleven weeks but we have a new leader at the top of the table and only the third occupier of top spot this season is St Charles, climbing 2 places and who got maximum points from the 3 points boosting balls to pull 8 points clear at the top from BBB who managed hold on to 2nd spot despite a lowly week.

Matt has been well and truly ousted after heading the table for 11 weeks to find himself down in 3rd after failing to add to his tally this week and could be coming under pressure from Worldclass who has added 58 points, nearly half his seasons score, in the last 3 weeks posting a seasons best this week.

Beefy slips a place down into 5th after another substandard week and we have to wonder if the new boy to the league has been found out now by his rivals, one of which Zinman is now only a couple of points away in 6th.

Sanjay is still well in touch in 7th as is Derby who passed the century mark climbing a place to 8th and neither can be discounted as there are only 28 points covering these top 8.

Amelia had the 100 landmark in the bag until the dreaded Gamball took her below it again, while Snooty the Premierships other new boy is struggling to make his mark in this league sitting 16 points adrift.

Bomber

Sadly there were 3 no-shows this week in the Championship, or 17 if you include the Baggies. It was also a week which produced not a single extra score ball point - strange given that half of this week's matches saw both teams scoring. Quite a wide spread of scores with the season's best performers all leading the way once again.

Top is Themaclad, crucially gaining maximum points on the gamball - the only player to do so this week. Bomber did slightly better than last week (in case anyone's forgotten he scored a memorable minus 1) to come in 2nd, helped by the only correct bonus ball score and also getting the gamball result right. Quantum was close behind in third, wisely choosing not to play the gamball (presumably he doesn't get quite as excited as Beefy by doing so). Worth a mention was Quantums decision to play the score ball on Stoke v Pulisborough - surely the longest of long shots? 4eva was the only other player to score points on the gamball, reaching double figures for the week to cement 4th place.

Twerton sits in mid-table with a respectable 8 points from 5 correct result predictions including his bonus. Poor ball play from Baggie_One left him some way behind on just 3 points but still above Joker who, but for the no-shows, would have been sitting in his usual position at the foot of the table.

Zin

A decimated week in the championship as nearly a third of the players went AWOL, which should have allowed those who did play to climb into positions above them, sadly that wasn’t the case and the table looks exactly as it did last week.

Themaclad continues to set the pace as he has done all season as he extended his lead at the top to 8 points over Quantum in 2nd who continues to press our leader with a second consecutive return of 15 points for the week.

He leads 3rd placed Bomber, (who despite the minus last week still has considerably more points than Zinman) Tongue , by 3 points and edged out a further 7 point lead over 4eva in fourth who suffered his tenth bonus Ball set back of the season, which have cost him 18 points so far.

5th and 6th are still occupied by two of our absentees this week, turkeydinner & Stairs.

BaggieOne in 7th did close the gap to a solitary point but will probably see this as a missed opportunity with a lowly score this week, as Twerton in 8th inched closer and further away from the bottom 2.

We probably need to send out a search party for Spirite missing for the fifth time this season, though he does still hold onto 9th ahead of Joker who will be hoping that the next two thirds of the season go a lot better than the first third.
